VAS Networking Services (VASNET) is partnering with Counting on Chicago Coalition to help reach Hard to Count (HTC) areas (Auburn Gresham, Englewood, Roseland and Washington Heights) in the 2020 Census. VASNET is working diligently ensuring that individuals in HTC are not left behind. We are preventing the spread of COVID-19 by not going door-to-door, but by using technology.
Counting on Chicago (COC) is 18 organizations, each with strong and unique access points to vulnerable populations such as disenfranchised minority communities and people across the spectrum who are otherwise in hard to count areas.
The Counting on Chicago Coalition will work under a $2.3 million grant awarded by the State of Illinois 2020 Census Grant program, which aims to make sure that Illinois is represented appropriately in the upcoming 2020 Census. The Census is a critical tool in our efforts to get the federal government to adequately fund those needs in communities on Chicago's Southside and Westside. Its critical that everyone in the black communities is counted.
